Report from Ron James:

Well it was a great start to the day with a perfect sunrise over the Opera House to greet us as we gathered for our departure. 110 Bash cars, 250 bashers, support vehicle and crews, family and friends and just a whole heap of on lookers made our morning something very special as we set off across the Harbour Bridge on the 25th Anniversary "Bennelong to Broken Hill" Bash.

The morning was fairly uneventful as we headed west over the Blue Mountains and down the Western slopes heading into Orange for our lunch break.

The afternoon was more traditional bash driving with our first 100 Klm or so of dirt road. Nothing too challenging at this stage as we "break In" the virgin bashers and get them familiar with the routine of "Bashing"

Our arrival at Parkes surprised most of us by the shear fact that we were so early compared with the standard time usually associated with arrival at our nightly stop. A Pleasant dinner at the local RSL Club and a very different presentation about our solar system was given by Parkes one and only singing astronomer!!!!!!

We will leave that one alone and hope that there is a bit more news for our next report
Stay safe
